Blade Wars

Blade Wars is an action massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by ChangYou and published in ChangYou US in North America. The game is set in a mythical gaming wortld where Abyssals, Humans, and Immortals battle each other for dominance and supremacy.

Blade Wars Online is not a brand new concept MMORPG since there have been so many similar games out there, including TLBB or Dragon Oath, Phoenix Dynasty Online, Conquer Online, and Eu-demon Online. Like what other similar games deliver, Blade Wars features non-stop martial arts or Kung Fu styled fighting action gameplay, allowing for different skills and abilities to be chained into combos.

Blade Wars also features crafting in the form of weapon creation, and even allows players to create their own music. PvP offerings range from arenas all the way to huge guild vs. guild battles.

Customizable skill combinations result in powerful attacks, generating extra bonus damage during a battle. The battle system is based on a dynamic algorithm that factors in everything from a player’s level to the time between attacks to the enemy’s position. Players are able to feign attacks, or dodge an opponents’ strikes.

The game incorporates many of the features found in ChangYou’s previously released title, Dragon Oath. Mounts, trading, guild battles, and daily events are all available in Blade Wars. Unlike Dragon Oath, Blade Wars uses a 2.5D graphics engine, mixing 2D and 3D graphics into an isometric view.

What the developers said:

We began operating Blade Online in October 2004 after licensing the game from a third party. We have since developed four expansion packs, and in August 2007 we purchased Blade Online’s source code to enable us to have complete control over future game enhancements. In June 2008, we launched a major expansion pack for Blade Online, which reignited interest in the game and propelled PCU to higher levels.

Players take on various roles within the game, including a human, an evil spirit or an immortal. Each role has different skill sets that can be learned and improved by completing various tasks. Like Tian Long Ba Bu (TLBB), BO provides a wide range of virtual items for game players to purchase to enhance their game-playing experience.
